New Standard Moka Pot is Awesome
The New Standard Moka Pot works so well! In the past I've had so much trouble using Moka Pots but this Moka Pot is easy to use and makes amazing espresso.
Love this! So tiny & so cute!
Love that this doesn't tarnish like my old aluminum Italian version. Worked on my induction cooktop and it's so freekin' CUTE!
Fine—not as good as Bialetti
It does feel a bit flimsy compared to Bialetti (both their aluminum and stainless pots). I have my doubts about the longevity of the lid’s hinge. It does dribble unless poured slowly. It makes coffee, though.
Unfortunately not up to MiiR Standards
I bought the MiiR Moka Pot at Slowtown in Swakopmund, Namibia (you all need to come and visit this beautiful country and coffee shop, truly one of the best in the world). The product unfortunately falls short of the quality and best in class design MiiR has come to stand for. This is for several reasons. First, the top and bottom part do not sit exactly on top of each other and, thus, don’t close neatly. This leads to hot water/coffee being pushed out on the sides where it shouldn’t when brewing coffee. Not only is this annoying, but it also ruins my cooktop and creates the risk of burning your hand off you’re not careful. (See pictures) Second, to screw the top and bottom part together requires significant force (more than my Bialetti and a no-name Bialetti copy moka pot I own too). While this is not a problem per se, the extremely thin sides (<1mm compared with >2mm for Bialetti; see pictures) of the top part of the MiiR moka pot combined with the flimsy and cheap mount for the lid mean that the pot & lid deform during normal use and are prone to break. Third, the design of the pot handle is impractical esp. vs Bialetti, since the plastic directly connects with the steel parts that heat up during normal use giving rise to risk of burning and/or give simply an unpleasant pouring experience (esp. when you use the moka pot on a gas cooker during a camping trip): the bottom part of the handle should not touch the main corpus and the top part should be reinforced to withstand the pressure required to close the pot. Lastly, the channel to pour the coffee from needs to be redesigned to be sharper, allowing for dripless pouring of coffee. Sorry MiiR team, but this creation of yours is simply not up to scratch compared to the quality we came to love your brand for!
